First time I tried oat milk in my americano at Intelligentsia coffee bar. Without any expectations I poured a little bit of oat milk in a tiny glass and tried it before adding to coffee. It was impressive – so creamy and thick! Then I tried to make it at home. It happened to be very easy and much cheaper than store bought. You will need only two ingredients!
Simple Oat Milk
Ingredients:
- 1 cup organic rolled oats
- 3 cups water (1 cup=250 ml), you can add more water depending on how thick you like your milk
Instructions:
-
Soak the oats in water for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
-
Drain the oats and wash them (discard the soaking water).
- Blend the oats with 3 cup of clean water.
- Strain the milk using a cheesecloth, or a nut milk bag.
-
Store in a sealed glass bottle in the fridge for up to 5 days.
You can use this milk in your smoothies, coffee drinks or baking.
Enjoy little experiments!
