Summer is almost here♡. Simple and nutritious green smoothie is always a great idea for a summer breakfast. It energizes and gives a generous portion of essential nutrients. Today I am sharing a recipe for a pre-made green smoothie which can be stored in the refrigerator for several days and can be an excellent base for a smoothie or smoothie bowl during busy mornings.
We all have those days when we are rushing in the morning and it feels like there is no time for washing and cutting ingredients for a breakfast smoothie. I certainly do. My solution (almost for everything?) is meal prep! Making a big jar of pre-made green smoothie on Sunday night (or any other nights) not only helps me save time in the mornings but also keeps me on track of healthy eating and prevents from skipping breakfasts.
When I have a smoothie base ready, all I need to do is to add to it some fruit/ berries (since smoothies with added fruit do not store long in the fridge.) You can also add some nut butter if you like. I personally love to drizzle some almond butter over my smoothie bowl in the morning.
Of course, this smoothie base can be modified in many ways, starting with your choice of nut milk or greens and so on. Adding later different berries and fruit keeps the flavors of smoothie interesting. It is tough to get bored!
Pre-made Green Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 cup organic cashew yogurt or almond milk
- 1 cup of water
- Bowl of spinach or three handfuls of spinach
- 6 celery sticks
- 1-2 green apples
- 1/2 of lemon or only lemon juice
- A small piece of ginger
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- 2-3 tbsp of high-quality plant-based protein powder I use organic pumpkin seed powder
Instructions
- Wash apples and celery.
- Chop apples and celery sticks in small pieces,
- place all ingredients in a blender and process until smooth consistency.
- Store in the fridge in a glass airtight container.
In the morning you have a few options.
Option 1
Make a smoothie!
Pour 1.5 cups of pre-made smoothie into a blender, add a cup of fruit (blackberries + half of the banana; strawberries + a pear; kiwi + pineapple), some nut butter if you like and process until smooth. Viola, breakfast is ready in 3 minutes! And well, yes, blender still needs to be washed ).
Option 2
Make a smoothie bowl!
Pour 1 cup of the pre-made smoothie in a bowl, top it with your favorite berries/ fruit, add 1 tbsp nut/seed butter, and your favorite superfoods. I love bee-pollen and cacao nibs! Homemade granola can also be a great smoothie bowl topping.
Enjoy!
